About me
A photo taken on a trip to Porto, Portugal, to present at the World Conference on Bioethics.
I’m a multidisciplinary writer and researcher living in Melbourne/Naarm, Australia.
My creative writing often focuses on themes of gender identity, interpersonal relationships, and the body. I’m usually a writer of fiction (short and long form) but sometimes dip into autofiction/fictocriticism and non-fiction. My biggest writing inspirations are Maggie Nelson, Quinn Eades, Tim Winton, and Sally Rooney.
I’m a research scholar and teaching associate (the job I get paid to do on a regular basis). My research encompasses Philosophy and Bioethics, with a focus on ethical issues arising from technological advances in human reproduction. My areas of specialisation are reproductive ethics (especially relating to epigenetics), moral responsibility, feminist bioethics, and ethical theory (especially care ethics).
My education:
Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy/Bioethics (Monash University, 2026)
Master of Bioethics (Monash University, 2022)
Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Philosophy and Creative Writing (The University of Melbourne, 2017)
FAQ (that no one has asked)
Q: Are you more of a writer or an academic?
A: ¿por qué no los dos?
Q: Have you published a book yet?
A: No, I’m working on that. If you are an agent and are interested in representing my completed novel manuscript (think Sally Rooney’s Normal People meets Christos Tsiolkas’ The Slap) please let me know.
Q: What is your new novel about?
A: For once it’s not about gender. It’s a romance. But the protagonists have more of a spiritual development arc together. Kind of like a Ghibli movie, but if they kissed.
Q: What were you doing between 2018 and 2022?
A: Travelling the world and then being stuck inside during the pandemic. I didn’t do much writing during this time. I did do a Master’s degree though.
Q: What’s your social media?
A: I find social media embarrassing. This website is a lot better.
Q: What are your current research interests?
A: You can find a list of my current research interests here.
